Backstepping Predictive Control of Hybrid Microgrids Interconnected by Neutral Point Clamped Converters

In this work, DC and AC parts of hybrid microgrids are interconnected by a neutral point clamped—NPC converter controlled using new backstepping predictive (BP) method. The NPC is to operate in the microgrid voltage control mode or power mode. novel controller designed dq state space dynamic model connected microgrid. BP regulates injected power, balances capacitor voltages, controls currents, enforces near unity factor. Simulation (MATLAB/Simulink) experimental (laboratory prototype) results show that can regulate interconnection point, adjusting conversion compensate variations on loads distributed renewable energy sources currents sinusoidal with low harmonic distortion. obtained faster at balancing voltages than PWM (pulse width modulation) carrier offset. fast response allows be used as primary frequency regulator This research appropriate for energy.
